Culture

Italy is well known for its rich culture and Friuli is of course no exception: old churches, castles and ancient ruins are scattered around the landscape. Udine, also called “Little Venice”, is 20km south and full of historic buildings, canals and romantic squares.

Cividale is located 25km east and dates back to around year 400.

Stunningly well-preserved, Cividale is without a doubt the most obvious place to visit first. Many things can be said about Cividale (8km up the mountainside is Castlemonte, the oldest monastery in Europe , dating all the way back to year 0), but this part of the homepage would turn into a book about Cividale.

After 4 years of visiting this historically rich and beautiful place, we are still discovering new reasons to come back.

And, as we mentioned earlier, Venice is only 1,5 hour away by train or car.
