Driving at night is the fastest. Some road work must be expected – but if you drive down in one stretch with no stops, it will take you about 13 hours from Copenhagen.
If you prefer to fly, then Cimber or SAS fly out of Copenhagen to Venice . From here you can rent a car (the drive from Venice takes about 1 ½ hour).
You can also take the train from Venice to Udine and rent a car from here.
If you are flying out from London , then Trieste is about 30 minutes closer than Venice.
From London you can also choose to fly to Klagenfurt in Austria (about a 75min drive).
